was extremely annoying. She was so smothering and overbearing and was always hovering over her all the time. Examples: When Erica was bathing Molly, the mom just barges in and turns the water on. I’m like “What the hell are you turning the water on for? She’s already bathing her in a tub full of water. Get lost!” When Erica’s mom suggested that Molly stay at her house and Erica could just visit HER child on weekends. When Erica told her that she got campus housing and the mom said “What if you don’t like it there?” Like, leave her alone! It’s like she wanted Erica to be right under her all the time.

I agree the mother is overbearing and needed to keep her mouth shut in lots of instances but I also think her mom really felt she had to intervene because of what happened with her first marriage. She mentions her ex a few times and even says she doesn’t want her daughter hurt like she was. I also get the sense the mother probably was very passive when it came to standing up to her ex and she sees her daughter going head strong into the situations and worried her daughter is taking on too much or will be hurt.

Also as a mom of young adults I can tell you it’s hard to step back and let your babies make life changing decisions. I make a point with my kids to just offer my opinion if they ask and give support when needed even if I don’t agree with things they do. They are adults and have to learn from their mistakes.
