Loved Woop Woop - Don't Miss Epilogue after the Credits!!

I just happened to run across this great little movie on the MGM channel on Time Warner on Jul 31 2009.

Just in case someone might start watching it and think for awhile that it is going to be a Jerry Lewis type comedy, just hold on - things are going to change. This is not a straight comedy as the first 30-40 minutes might suggest. That is the just the lead-in to the dramatic part of this dramedy.

Don't miss the Epilogue that shows after the credits. It shows a scene with a little surprise twist to the ending of the story, 15 years after the time shown in the movie.

The soundtrack is great - all Rogers & Hammerstein songs, but many are electronic/dance versions that are peppy and keep up with the action of the particular scene it is associated with. Some of their songs are listed repeatedly in the credits up to three and four times because the film people put together different artists or different mixes of popular Rogers & Hammertein tunes together.

The acting is great from top to bottom - including the return to the screen of Rod Taylor - who I most vividly remember as a Western B Movie star from the 50's. He did a lot of other stuff besides westerns over his career. What a great role for the sunset of his career. I believe all the actors except for Jonathan Schaese (sp??) and the New York scene actors are Australian and put on a fine show.

All in all, not Shakespeare, but a very entertaining experience.

Ditto. Rod Taylor is a bloody legend. What a talent!

It is a fun film and good to see Rod Taylor, although he looks a lot different.

It is on one of the Encore channels tonight!
