I dunno what to think here. Have I missed a really subtle joke or have you concocted your own one?

Surely the line was " and dont ever show your face around this MEWS again!" as the appartment he was warning Spencer away from was at 6 Beverley Mews.

I think you have created your own joke with the Joanne Whalley / Muse comment. Maybe I'm wrong, but if you've interpreted it that way, it's quite clever really. Bravo to you....maybe?

At the risk of buying into the old cliche, I'm sure most yanks would have missed out on Murrays broher talking to the Germans, telling them how welcoming they were and what a lovely town Brussels was...arf!

reply

I'm an American, from down south in Louisiana, and although I don't know what specifically they are referring to, I was able to infer from their sarcasm that "down-town Brussels" was not actually a particularly nice place to be.

reply

Don't know if you're joking or not but the joke was that Brussels is not in Germany. It's in Belgium. And the down-town is quite nice.

If we get them, we'd probably not think them all that subtle. If we didn't get them, we'd not recognize them as jokes...subtle or otherwise.
