I absolutely agree. This is one of the most hysterical movies I've ever seen, and Bill Murray is a genius.

I get the impression that he was ad libbing some large part of it (like the bit on the beach while the credits are rolling).

Because of all that ad-libbing, I think he was doing a modern era version of the silent era's Harold Lloyd, who used to do a bit where he'd be blind or asleep on a skyscraper or construction site and never ever fall, constantly succeeding and walking along over every obstacle (and his character not being aware that he was doing it!)

This movie is one of my top 10 favourite movies, and in that list I have Groundhog Day near the top (Bill Murray can do no wrong in my book, Garfield or not).

Don't mind me, just posting on this 16 year old thread to add my praise for this underrated gem. They just don't make them like this anymore...
