I AM SO DISAPPOINTED......

I am so disappointed in myself and some of you other posters (you know who you are) for not bothering to vote for this movie. I search out this site and scroll down right away and get hit with this lower than deserving score and I realize that my lack of bothering to vote is responsible for this travesty. After all, there is hardly a negative poster to be found amongst the dozen or so subjects I read on this board. In fact, most writers feel like I do about this film. Absolutely Hysterical. I saw this film right after Bill stated on late night television that he would refund any ones price of admission if they were disappointed with it. Not that I needed any incentive to see my favorite SNL player of all time, I rushed to a matinee showing along with a crowd of 6 or 7 other fans in the theatre. I found myself slipping out of my chair, holding my sides, embarrassed that I laughed soooo out loud! After awhile I didn't care and just assumed everyone else was laughing at the same time. This one and GHD are at the top of my list, while Rushmore is at the bottom, along with some more recent non-comedic ventures.
For the life of me, I don't understand why so many people take the time to search out a film or a person's page here on IMDB just to bad mouth that performer to such a ridiculous level. If I don't like a performer I certainly don't even think about seeking them out just to bad mouth them here online. I simply don't patronize them in the future, don't rent their movies, don't watch them on TV, etc. There is a newcomer(relatively) out there, Dane Cook I believe is his name, that I don't find funny at all. It is sometimes annoying just to hear his voice regardless of what he is saying. But the last thing I would think about doing is to go to his site just to post my feelings. Forgetaboutit!
That said, everyone sees the same movie differently. If you didn't like this movie, please explain why and maybe others will be enlightened. (I doubt it, though, haha).

P.S. I thought Spaceballs was hysterical. Saw it on Day 1. Why does that seem to make a difference?

I have to completely disagree. This movie is hilarious. I laughted so hard I fell out of my chair in the theater. They had to scoop me up with a spatula. Bill Murray is so funny in the right rolls.

reply

Who are you disagreeing with? I too fell out of my seat!

reply

Lol, yup, you two are agreeing:D BTW this movie rules, even better than GHD, for me. I think i even like it better than Caddyshack, though it is damn close. Only reason i give TMWNTL the edge is the riotous climax of the movie. I was laughing so hard during that russian dance scene, and the events around it:)

Incidentally, i love rushmore as well. Just not in the same way. TMWNTL is pure comedy.

what is GHD and TMWNTL

ITs a habit of lazy people. The first one is Groundhog day, the second one is The Man Who Knew Too Little. Great, thats exactly what i was trying to avoid. ;D

I completely agree and share your shame for I too have not voted. This movie which appears to be(and mostly is) a simple lighthearted comedy is absolutely flawless and extremely witty. I have seen this movie about a hundred times and I find something new every time I watch it. There is so much subtle humor in this movie. The tie ins throughout the movie were great and I truly believe that only Bill Murray could have played the part so well. He was so perfect for this role. This definitely ranks up there with Groundhog Day and Caddyshack.

This was a great movie that Siskel and Ebert hated.

Having just read the post about Siskel and Ebert hating this movie, I just had to listen to their review. They were brutal. Not funny at all??? I don't really know what to make of that. I am the same age as those guys, college grad, a movie lover more so than anyone else I know personally. The people involved with making this movie knew they were making a comedy. This movie ranks number 1 or 2 with Blazing Saddles for the funniest movie I've ever seen. Laughing is spontaneous and there are no qualifications needed to find something funny, so why the descrepancy? There is one but there is no answer to account for it.

I stopped watching SISKEL and EBERT LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNG before SISKEL passed away...they just seemed to be OUT OF TOUCH with the world.

This one of Bill Murray's best and most underrated comedy's.Along with Quick Change, What About Bob?, Scrooged and Groundhog Day of course.People that do not enjoy these type films and performances, simply have a bad sense of humor and taste.Wtf does every comedic genius such as Bill turn to artsy fartsy drama flicks these days?
