The Forbidden Kingdom

The new movie The Forbidden Kingdom reminded me of Warriors of Virtue. A young boy is knocked unconscious and wakes up in a fantasy land to overthrow an evil warlord with the help of mystical allies? Bingo.

I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it... RIP Heath Ledger

Yeah TFK reminded me of WOV too! However, I think WOV would've been a lot more successful it'd had used a darker and more dramatic tone like TFK did.

What about the whole ninja turtle concept except they're kangaroos?? That is what I thought of seeing some of this film.

reply

Yeah TFK ripped this off

I can see parallels but they're very different movies and, in my opinion, WOV is superior. I should also mention that TFK would've been a LOT better WITHOUT the dopey white kid. It suited WOV but not TFK.

This is what I was telling people who rented Forbidden Kingdom when I worked at a video store, yet it was disgusting that nobody had sen it!

Yeah, that's the reason why I watched THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, which I thought was a lot of fun too. I quite like both movies. I just wish I could see a 2.35:1 Widscreen version of WOV. Actually, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM directly mentions and references THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR, which was another film directed by WARRIORS OF VIRTUE director Ronny Yu. I thought that was kind of interesting.
