The Feminist mindset is what got the friend "Rachel" killed (SPOILERS)

I'm not against Feminism when it's done right, but when some Feminists go overboard with every little thing is when it becomes dangerous, and that is what happened here in this movie.

When the head of the emergency management department - Mike Roark (Tommy Lee Jones) tells Dr. Amy Barnes (Anne Heche) that it's too dangerous for her and her friend to go into the tunnels to collect research, the women sneakily disregard what he says and decide to go down there anyway. Amy says to her friend that Mike is "Macho and Controlling" and mocked him in a way that they're weak little women, when that wasn't what Mike was saying at all. She's a Geologist, but he's the head of emergency, she should have swallowed her pride and listened to him, then the friend would still be alive. They had that feminist mindset at that moment in time and it was over the top - and it was that mindset that got Rachel killed.

There was an attraction between Amy and Mike, but at the same time Amy genuinely had a belief that he was a bit controlling when he was just doing his job.

Another thing that got Rachel killed was that the movie had her straddle the fissure in the ground. I noticed that this time. I was thinking why would you put a foot on either side of that thing was instead of just placing both feet on one side and gingerly edge over to see what you could see?
