Volcano is the kind of movie that you look at as being pure entertainment if you don't take it seriously. For it's time, the movie has impressive special effects and strong performances from Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche. It serves as the perfect finish to this awesome Saturday night movie trilogy of volcano films that got bigger and better as they went.

You could throw San Andreas in there too.

I bought Volcano and Dante's Peak last week together so that I could watch both of them.

Watching Volcano now. Saw it right across from the Beverly Center when it first came out, and the audience applauded at the end. I do prefer Dante's Peak. The three biggies since ("The Day After Tomorrow", "2012" and "San Andreas") are really bad, although like bad accidents you can't take your eyes off of them. At least here, the family subplot is minimal, although I wanted to put tape on Gaby Hoffman's mouth.
