Hate the whiny daughter + the annoying assistant

Jus watched this, while visiting my parents, who don't have premium cable channels. Dear God, so much wrong with this movie.

1) Tommy Lee Jones' character: he has one of the most important jobs- the safety of the population & and his f'king wife bitches about his daughter left alone.

2) his spoiled, self obsessed, rotten daughter is the only thing he thinks about-- she's a distraction, people died because he was distracted

3) every department chief protecting his f'king turf is responsible for people dying- had they worked together, people would have lived

4) when the lava is coming, the daughter stands there clutching her teddy bear & he runs to her -while he's supposed to be
helping others. It's lava, run away in the other direction you stupid brat - because he was helping her, 2 firemen burned to death. That daughter's father is all about safety, he would have trained her in safety & to help others--yet she cringes when the guy in the vehicle is gushing blood.

Omg, I hate this movie, because of the daughter. Don't get me started on the annoying sidekick. He's annoying in this, he's annoying as Ironman's assistant. The only real self empowered character is the dog--he knew to run away, after saving his bone, and running to safety.

I also hate movies with whiny kids who live & bitch while living in mansions, because their parents work to give them everything, that less fortunate people can't give their kids.

And YES, I feel better now.

reply

Yes but at least it didn't have the worst James Bond in it.

George Lazenby?

Yup. George Lazenby.

Calm your tits it's ONLY a fictional movie!

I'm (unfortunately) watching it now. The daughter was so dysfunctional I actually thought she had Asperberger's.

Not only that, but she barely gets out of the vehicle when she notices the oncoming lava. Then she just gets out and doesn't run. Just stands there with a teddy bear. Tommy Lee Jones has to jump in, pick her up and carry her over the car like she's five-years-old or something. I'm curious as to why the screenwriter portrayed the girl in this manner. It didn't make any sense that she would be that stupid.

She was in shock. It does happen in real life too.

Yeah, except the daughter acts like that through the whole movie. That's what separates this from a real life incident. Hence the fact she carries a teddy bear and acts like she's a little kid, even though she's supposed to be a teenager. It's an odd writing choice for the character dynamic.

Then at the end she’s doing better; she runs after the little boy, protects him.

Then she starts freezing in place again.

I’m betting Gaby Hoffman wasn’t happy but, it was a role!
