I liked volcano

I thought it was a really good disaster movie, it's different from the rest, a bit like Dante's peak which i also like. I dont know why so many people bash it, i know it has some flaws, but no more than any other disaster movie! leave it alone peeps!

ya know what? i actually agrre with you. inlike armageddon and deep impact and such like, it didnt suck. things actually happen, from the beginning, and there arent long periods of boredom and chatting. its not pulp fiction but its totally watchable! and has us....2, to defend it.

You silly sausage! what are you doing?!!

Let's say 5 and a half. Yes I kind of like the movie. I don't think it's a classic, but it's not bad for a good entertaining winter evening, I often compare it with Independence Day: Great effects, good action, ok casting, a ton of plot holes and a dose of American moral that'll almost make you puke. As I love action and good effects this is a great choice for those popcorn evenings, and I can fast-forward over the moral parts. (Someday I'd love to see a disaster movie where the bloody dog burns to ashes.)

One thing that bothers me a bit is the lack of surprises in this movie, even the first time through you're quite sure who'll make it all the way through. Not like Poisidon or Towering Inferno where only one or two persons were the obvious survivors.

Lets say 6.

I enjoyed this movie, no matter what anyone said. However, John Carol Lynch is a good actor. He played Stan. I liked the effects also.

I like the ending music, though. "I love LA."

I like the movie too, but I saw it as a kid. Now that I look back I have all of the flaws it contained. This film was still aight.

In case of an impending nuclear threat, call Jack Bauer, he will know what to do.

I'm happy other people liked it. I thought I was the only person who liked it. *Sigh of relief*

This movie was stupid, but I liked it too. I even bought the premise of an unknown magma flow under LA (Hey ever check out what's under Yellowstone park?). The part that I couldn't buy were all the city officials who wanted to handle the problem themselves. What happened to passing the buck? Like I said, I liked this film, but then again I just bought "Demolition Man" on DVD (gotta love Wal-Mart specials). Judge Dredd is next!!!

I'm so sick of reading all the hate people give this movie. I'm a sucker for disaster movies, they're like guilty pleasures.

Also VOLCANO deserves credit for avoiding the worn-out disaster movie formula where we 1) spend an hour getting to know the characters before any real action happens and 2) the main character runs around for that hour warning everyone that a disaster is looming while some mayor, city council or boss of his refuse to listen. Instead we get 100 minutes where we almost jump straight into the action and follow the frantic actions to stop the lava flow, ending with collapsing a building to turn it into the ocean. THE END. Roll credits!

I think it's a nice little popcorn flick, if you leave your brain at the door.

I too, have always enjoyed Volcano. No its not a Shakespeare written script..or an Oscar-worthy film. But, it has its good points. I agree its a great little popcorn flick..that honestly never gets old.

I guess I'll cut my losses, and turn my tricks at the magic show..

I also liked Volcano, it was a good shallow action movie made for pure enjoyment. Much like Armaggedon a yr later.

Clark Kent + Lois Lane 4ever
DC Can Suck It

I much preferred this to Dante's Peak and Armageddon. Dante's was not bad but it had not much star power and was kind of bland throughout, it took a while for anything to happen. Volcano on the other hand started early and built to the middle, it never got boring.

This movie is not too bad really, TLJ was great as usual and Anne Heche was surprisingly good. A fun little action flick.

I like it too, sure it's not the best movie in the world but I can still enjoy this movie all the same. The practical effects still impress me to this day.

The film was way too cheesy and even camp.

Its that man again!!

reply

Yeah, me to. It's a good old fashioned disaster movie where they start with an earthquake and build to a climax! There are some cheesy moments and you can ridicule the science but overall it's fun to watch.
