I think this movie is genuinly terrifying at times

Now, I now this isn't exactly up there with the biggest movies in terms of story or production. But this is actually one of my favourite movies in the action genre. The directing is quite good, especially the action scenes which are always easy to follow thanks to good camera angles and editing.

But the main thing that I love is just that it scares me. Alot. Now, I usually don't scare easy, but this movie is of the kind that I actually sort of dread seeing certain scenes that I know are coming up. Because I know I have been scared by them before. When I say scared, I don't mean jump from the couch kind of scared, it's more of a uncomfortable feeling. I just hate the machines in this movie. That coupled with the straight-forward setup of the film makes it really easy to put yourself in the action and be immersed.

Anyways, I gave it a 7, just because I liked the great clarity of the action sequences, and because the machines give me the creeps.

to be fair this movie could've been great
the idea was genius
but even the best ideas can be screwed up
bad cast list, bad acting, bad ending !
my first reaction after I saw the movie was
wtf, was this directed by Uwe Boll or something ?
I think this is just one big piece of sh*t
well they are making remakes of almost every movie
and altough I'm against it
this movie surely could use a remake with
a good cast ! and a good ending !
(the only thing good about this movie was Shutterland)
and don't start about Jamie Lee Curtis
and how "hot" she is
cause people, you really disgust me
her acting is mostly well (like in freaky friday and true lies)
but sometimes she can really screw a movie up (virus and al halloween movies)

I agree that alot of things could have been done better. Though I believe the fault lies alot more with the script writer than the director. The directing I thought was totally okay. Had they only had better things to say and convey in the movie (and perhaps had some better actors to deliver them) this would have been even better .And I actually thought Sutherlands acting was a bit too un-even (although I believe that too lies in the script, I mean, the way he all of a sudden decides to help the machines? Why? "I lost my cargo so now I am going to wipe out humanity, buhu". Way to weird of a character development for me to believe on any level).

This movie really scared me too.

It's scary in that a large group of people actually went through with creating this UN-scary, UN-interesting, UN-well done piece of garbage. So, from that contextual perspective, I agree with you.
