If this was made in America, it might have gotten an 'X' rating....?

They pretty much showed penetration.

...Not that there's anything wrong with that (winks)!

I know this is an old post but..what is wrong with "penetration?" what is the hangups so many Americans seem to have with sexuality? Personally I would feel more comfortable with young people watching normal, non-violent sexual penetration as opposed to watching a throat or a breast being penetrated with a knife or a chainsaw. The US tv show "Criminal Minds" received an 18 certificate in Germany, and that is something that is shown on television uncensored in America. What kind of morality code do some people operate with? I never understood this.

"I would feel more comfortable with young people watching normal, non-violent sexual penetration " Don't most young people see enough of that already? obviously at least with violence. It's not real no matter how real they make it look people know its fake.It starts now with showing real sex whats next ? showing people really beating each other .killing each other really being abusive to spouses /kids ? Showing real priest's molesting kids all for the sake art? You know what i find the fact that it's 2013 and .We are still hung up on these issues of sex and violence. We've addressed them it's time we start acting more mature and not like kids.Come together too create something that is just new and shows progression as a whole.
Showing stuff like this proves we haven't evolved much as humans we are still dumb primates.

comparing normal, natural sex to acts of violence, murder, child rape etc just shows how unhealthy your thinking is. how can you compare sex to any of those things? did your mother beat you with a bible when you were a kid?

I have to agree that the association the poster who replied to you makes shows an unhealthy view of sex in films.

I've felt divided about unsimulated sex in non-porn films. But yesterday I had the fortune to watch a film about Afghani society (The Patience Stone) and it's made me realise that sex and sexual relationships in all their forms have to be explored in the mainstream and not discretely siphoned off into marginal films and/or labelled as porn. The brief scene in the film serves a purpose: To show how primitive the 'love making' is and to show how the sex between Freddy and Marie is mechanical. This adds a subtle comment on the characters of Freddy, in particular, but Marie also. Freddy finds it had to be sensual or affectionate, which suggests a lack of tenderness in his life and upbringing. Marie is coarse as well. When Kader embraces her she apologises to him as though realising for the first time that his interest in her is as a whole person and not a vagina and that the crude way she behaved to him was an insult.
The distance is nothing. The first step is the hardest.

I'm really happy when i see that some people "get it" when it comes to film. I wish more people could use their brains in such a way.. I haven't seen "The Patience Stone" yet, but I will look for it.

Btw, there's nothing sexually explicit in The Patience Stone but the story examines male-female sexual relationships and concludes that those men 'who can't make love, make war'.
