This was the first Vacation movie not written by him.

I like this movie but it doesn't have the same charm as the previous installments and I'd say that's due to John Hughes not writing it.

Anybody know why he abstained from this one?

writers usually given storyline to work with before writing script. hughes probably read synopsis and think its shit.

only john hughes can write vacation movie.

this movie is shit because it does not have hughes.
