The Kino Scene, Only ONE Round Or Bust?

Just watched the film again...

This may just be nitpicking, but it I do find it annoying, and wonder if I am the only one...

I don't understand why they were so concerned about needing so many correct numbers out of the total...and act like they are doomed for not getting so many winning numbers early on. Clark says something like "Even 8/10 pays something like $15,000..." But when they miss that, they seemed pretty defeated, and it is still early in the drawing process. If there was a $15,000 prize, shouldn't there be a prize level very close to $2.00 or a bit more? Now, they obviously need a certain number correct to at least break even so they could play again, but why is it they can't seem to accept a prize for $2.00 or more? The odds are against them, getting every number right or even most of them. Remember Sid's Character? He said he had be playing for years... I just don't understand why they felt so defeated before the drawing was over with. They just needed at least another $2.00 to try again.

And if they got more than $2.00 they could play some other games...

Now from a Movie standpoint, obviously the point was for them to loose and have no hope, and to get the ticket from Sid's Character... But still, the hope should have been lost more towards the end of the drawing...
