Nasty food on buffett...

That was the nastiest looking buffett I have ever seen. Personally, I don't care to eat at buffett's anyways. I've seen one too many nasty, (little and big), hands up in the food. The blue beef and yellow chicken gunk was the grossest I think...lol! Then when Eddie was eating the runny bread pudding, I thought that was gross looking too!

I was in this scene, and I can tell you the food was made to look gross on purpose. Milk was added to Eddie's bread pudding to make it look nastier. That scene was actually shot at the old Sands Hotel and Casino just after it had closed up. Part of it was torn down after this scene, and another movie was shot there just before it was completely destroyed.

That other movie was "Con Air" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118880/, they built a ramp and slid the convict airplane into the old Sands for the scene where it crashes on the strip and into the front of the casino.

Really cool you being an extra in this film, thanks for sharing your experiences.

So what was the yellow and blue stuff supposed to be anyway?

Clark this is all you can eat. We only need one plate.

That buffet scene was one of the hillarious scenes I been to Vegas. I went back in July of this year and I said if I ever go back to Vegas I'm going to check out that buffet..lol. I'm glad the one poster said it was torn down.

To be honest, everything except the bread pudding looked fine to me. Hell, the blue stuff even looks like something I'd like to give a try.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for.

The entire buffet sequence and the scenes after with Eddie are so funny to me.

Does the CV2 Uncle Eddie movie have any of these type of scenes? I know Chevy is not in it, but Quaid's actions as Eddie are really funny to me.

reply

They're funny when played against a decent plotline or part of a larger story. There is no ryme or reason to CV2, it is an absolute disaster waste of time which will leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Don't do it, but if you do, feel free and come back here and let me tell you "I told you so."

I don't like buffets as much as I used to. I have seen some kind of buffet monitor at restaurants in some states. Unfortunately, I have not seen them very often in the state where I reside. There are few things I hate more than seeing someone use a dirty plate at a buffet. Those customers are not the ones doing the dishes. They should not care about using too many plates. Anyone who does that deserves to be beaten to a pulp. I also don't like the way new food is constantly piled on top of old food at some buffets.

I don't like pot luck dinners either. All it takes is one careless person to get dozens of people violently ill.

Most casinos have good buffets. Some cheap restaurant buffets look scary.

"Best buck forty-nine buffet in town" lol.

The buffet at Bellagio is awesome, they have strawberries the size of your fist! The buffet at Rio is good too.

The Buffet at the M Resort casino is truly one of the greatest, ever. Everything there is really, really good. You should check it out.

I actually had the experience of a "bad-Vegas-buffet." I think coming back from a tour of the Grand Canyon. Lol. Mandalay Bay has a really good one.

That buffet was more Reno than Vegas, reminded me of the buffet in Circus,Circus I went to when I was little.

I've always thought the same thing! I live a reasonably short distance from Reno and have been to the Circus Circus buffet a number of times. If memory serves me correct, they charge $15.95-$19.95 per person for that stuff! Amazing 😜

bad vegas buffet: whichever casino has the chippendale's show. it was/is a seafood buffet. work group went there at the insistence of one person. i said, "uh... it's a seafood buffet... IN THE DESERT". he continued to insist. we gave in and went. i also explained i had no interest in the chippendale's show that he thought would be fun.

it was nasty, mystery food several times over, AND it ran the company something like $45/person.

Was it The Rio? I went to their seafood buffet and it was awesome, whole lobsters, Alaska king crab and at least 20 other offerings. The sushi and shashimi was OK, not great, but you'd pay $30 just to look at those in a specialized Japanese restaurant.

Maybe it was the time/day. Definitely worth checking out any buffet before you pluck down your cash.

I feel the same way about buffets. I can't help but think about how clean or not everyone's hands are, and that we all have to handle the same serving spoons to get our food. On the rare occasion I actually attend a buffet anymore, I always go wash my hands before actually eating anything.
