Sophia's character, or lack there of.

I love this movie, but every time I watch it I have a hard time believing that anyone could build an obsession with this girl. I know she was talented, but she wasn't even passionate. Why couldn't they have made her intriguing? Am I alone?

I think it was the idea she was always entranced. IT comes across as no personality.

Yes in some ways she does come across as one dimensional, but I think they tried to make her innocent and naive as well as talented. Zachary was attracted to the first part, because perhaps that reminded him of his lost love Rebecca, whereas Ash was attracted to her talent.

Makes me think why he made Cassandra his protege, as we never get a glimpse of whether she as a musical prodigy during her day. I wish they made a sequel so we could have seen what happened to them after Ash's demise!
