filming location
Does anyone have any idea where the movie was filmed - the canal where the barber shop is located.
shareI'm pretty sure it was filmed in Hachioji, which is where I think it takes place. Hachioji is that last stop on the Keio-sen out of Shinjuku station (central hub of downtown Tokyo - opening shot of the film is the main intersection in Nishii Shinjuku, which is the business district). So it's about an hour west of central Tokyo, or kind of in the middle of Honshu, which is the main island. I could be wrong, but I've been out there and it looks like that, so it makes sense, though it did seem a little cold at times in the movie, and it doesn't really get that cold in Tokyo. Anyway, hope that helps. . .

shareThe barber shop in the story is in Suwara city in Chiba, cited twice in the movie. It is between Narita Intl. Airport and the sea, the opposite direction to Tokyo.
