i love guy maddin's films but i'm soooo bored watching this, i decided to post this while i'm watching it
shareSame here. I thought Careful was terrific, The Heart of the World was amazing, as was Dracula...but Twilight never really did it for me. It was pretty boring. Still looks amazing though, as usual with Maddin films.
shareAw crap. He did "Heart of the World"? I never would have picked this up if I'd known. Now I don't even want to watch it.
Edit: Okay, I watched Ice Nymphs and I kind of liked it. It's extremely self-conscious and melodramatic, but if you look at it as a made-for-TV-quality stage play and an attempt to create a mood rather than a story, then it's easier to accept and semi-enjoy. However, I wouldn't recommend this movie to most people, and I couldn't have watched it in greater than 30-minute increments.
The set designers did a great job with an obviously low budget, and that made all the difference in the world. The excessively flowery language mostly worked in this context too, so the writer deserves lots of credit.
That said, I will actively avoid seeing anything else by this director.
I thought the film wasn't as bad compared to what everybody said. Before watching this film, I read all your posts along with other reviews and practically everybody said it's so boring and stupid, but I didn't think it was all that bad so I kinda liked it for that reason.
