My Dad said the same thing. As soon as it's revealed that he's undercover my Dad was like "ok then why didn't he stop them at this point or at that point" etc....
Also the role was poorly written I think. If he was really trying to be convincing as a murderous thug on the run with these people then he should've acted alot more heinous and especially not whined about not killing people. All he did to act like he was part of the gang was say something simple in a really homey g sort of voice like that's all it would take to act convincingly around these types.
I don't normally like to nitpick but if he punctured the tyres of their ride when they weren't looking then they'd have been screwed. I like to suspend belief while watching movies as I understand and appreciate that they're escapsim but in this case, an undercover cop on the run with criminals that just mowed down 4 or 5 cops in broad daylight and all that time they were on the run and all the places they went and all the times they weren't all in the same room and there wasn't one single opportunity for the undercover cop to so much as make a phone call? or slash the tyres of the car? or ANYTHING? hard to suspend belief that whole time.
It's a shame because that angle of the plot could've been explored and played out so much better. As soon as that part of the movie happened where the cop says "he's one of us" in reference to the under cover cop I straight away thought it was a great storyline arc that would provide alot of suspense throughout the movie but it was totally underwhelming.
