Is this the same movie?

This IS the same 'Trucks' that was based on the Stephen King short story, right? Because I'm kind of confused as to why everyone thinks this movie was so good.
The movie I'm thinking of had predictable dialogue and forced character/relationship development. Plus a lot of what I saw wasn't even in the original story (ex. they never left the diner).
It'd be nice if they could make a decent Stephen King movie nowadays. Anyone see 'The Langoliers'? (shudder)

Yeah this is based on the Stephen King story but they took all the best parts and threw them out the window.
Stick to Maximum Overdrive if you want to have fun.

Don't vote, it only encourages the bastards.

Thank G-d, I thought I was the only one!

So are you saying that this is WORSE than Maximum Overdrive??

Oh lordy.

Did you tell LUKE..? Is THAT who you could tell??

reply

I did like this movie, actually, because, unlike Maximum Overdrive, this one actually "felt" like the story I'd read in Night Shift.

You're looking for Maximum Overdrive, which SK himself directed. This one manages to be worse than King's attempt. MO is at least funny to watch, this one is just plain boring.

reply

I thought this was slightly better than Maximum Overdrive, which isn't saying much.

I never read the book but for a TV miniseries I liked Langoliers. Maybe because I thought the cast was very good. I will say that I was very disappointed at the so called fx at the end. The little pacman (Langoliers) looked pretty fake.
