I miss Michael Richards

I miss his work; loved him in this movie; and fear that this is the last we'll see of him. He is a special soul.

I completely agree. He is such a talent, its a shame his show never took off, or should I say, was never given the chance to. He truly is one of the last great perfomers of our time. I hope someone gives him one more chance to shine. He should become a regular on Curb your Enthusiam at least.

oh yeah i agree wholeheartedly between this and Unstrung Heroes...he was amazing in that movie....he was as good a wacky movie hero as anybody else is these days....i do wish he had made more movies....we could really use a more upscale comedic actor like him....today all the comedians are trying desperetely to appeal to the young demos its all from the school of adam sandler and his friends or ben stiller/owen wilson and that whole group....michael richards could have been a 3rd group a group for more sophisticated stuff...oh well...it does help that he has zillions and zillons of dollars from seinfeld that he literally doesn't have to work unless he would want to.....here's to you Michael...by the way this movie was excellent...The chemistry between Richards and Daniels is excellent and there's this kind of gentle wistfullness to the movie that;s almost kind of like the vibe that was in Sideways...i really wish more comedies had this kind of human nature side
+wistfullness and wasn't so determined to be all over the place joke a minute marathons.
i was actually wrong when i said there were no good upscale comedic actors out there....steve carrell is carving out a career doing the kind of thing i'm describing... The Office aside....and certainly the last couple of Bill Murray films are wistful in the extreme...anyways Richards was good. and this film in particular was and is very underrated....a very nice comedy through and through.

And I have To Keep Being The Lawyer???

I don't miss this:

ugh. I never cared for a lot of standup anyways. I think he's better in a skit format playing a character.

That maybe ruined his whole career.

reply

yeah...no maybe about it...even if he were to somehow pop up in something from now on he's always gonna be known for the headlines he made recently...---its ironic though cause its gotten him more headlines then he's seen since well Seinfeld went off the air a decade ago---its too bad really...but if he really was as wacko as some of the stories that have been surfacing since his crazed outburst then obviously its just as well...

the producer of his nbc show was on howard stern saying how impossible he was to work with during his show calling him an extremely paranoid nutjob. there was a story he told where Richards took issue with one of the scripts the writers wrote and threw something at the head of the one writer he brought in himself accusing him of turning on him and some of the seinfeld writers; have gone on record saying he scared a lot of them and was barred from going to the writers' room to hear what they were working on the way George or Elaine would sometimes do....oh well, i guess the public never really knows what kind of guy someone is sometimes....

i maintain he was very good in the two movies he was in during his run on Seinfeld---Unstrung Heroes (where he plays a whacked out nut job who is very paranoid and ends up in an institution!) and Trial And Error of course, perhaps if he didn't have as many personal issues or problems or a temper--he could have parlayed that into a decnent character actor career---proof that you gotta work your s--t out before you become big--before!

He is kind of underrated for his acting. I think people somehow tend to disconnect him as an actor from the roles he's done. In some of the critical reviews of his non-Seinfeld work, though they're all more or less favorable, there a lot of statements like 'it's Kramer as a detective,' or 'Kramer as a paranoid uncle,' or 'Kramer as an actor pretending to be a lawyer.' He brings his own persona to his roles, like any actor, but he's shown much more versatility than he gets credit for. Richard Rieti was a different character than Danny Lidz, who was a different character than Vic Nardoza, etc.

I can see that but will anybody get a chance to see him do more characters after the huge scandal? I hope he gets forgiveness some day as long as he really didn't mean it and really is sorry for it.

reply

Yea i defenetly agree he was phenominal at making people laugh and stealing the attention and thats y i loved him, i own every seinfeld season thats out so atleast i can watch those to still see him, and if i ever became a movie director i would offer him and jason alexander roles in my movie cause i respect and enjoy them so much

Sadly we'll probably NEVER see him in a new movie or show...

It's a damn shame.
