I know the populularity of star trek has kind of slowed down in the last 10 years or so, so I was wondering if there were still lots of avid fans out there that eat, sleep, breathe and dress up like star trek like it was depicted in this documentary. I went to a star trek convention about a year ago, and it was a shell of what it was as shown in this movie as far as popularity goes
shareI thinkt here is stilla fan following, but like you said, its been ten years since any massive conventions. Back in the 80's and early 90's the conventions were huge.
Since that time, Babylon 5, stargate, various other roddenberry inspires shows, Xena, Buffy, all those shows have sort of diluted the convention going experience.
Thats when they decided to just group all the scifi shows under one convention. Like if you go to the san diego scifi and comicbook convention you will literally find thousands of people there dressed as chewbacca, commander riker, and hundreds of storm troopers. God I love nerds as I am one myself.
