I feel alot cooler now!

This movie was like watching a really bad car wreck, no matter how ugly things got, I just couldn't stop watching.

This movie is one of my favourites, I NEVER laughed so much in my whole life! ;)

I agree with KittenCaboodle,

I don't remember laughing so hard watching a film. I think we had to pause it a record ten times or so. My stomach hurt after watching it because I laughed so hard.

reply

I'm going to have to add this one to my DVD collection, whenever I feel down, I can just watch some random segment & realize that someone else is holding down the curve

...and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.

reply

Mr Wall,

So true. We've rented this one several times.

Have you managed to see the sequel? I haven't gotten my hands on it, yet. But, apparently, it has the kid who is now in his 20s.

reply

yeah, saw the sequal the moment I heard about it. honestly, it's a little nicer than the original (towards trekkies). Gabriel Köerner (the kid w/ the RV) actually has a career now in v/fx & did the work on the TV series Battlestar Galatica which I heard even impressed Lucas for the quality vs cost.

...and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.

reply

Was it as funny?

I guess if they were a little nice, then that could have taken the edge off?

Gabriel, that's his name....Well, I personally thought he was one of the least pathetic since he was so young (he had time to get a life.)

I'm not surprised that he ended being a special effects guy. For the year the original was made, his computer stuff was pretty good.

Is Spiner Fem in the second one?

reply

spiner fem? you're going to have to refresh my memory on who that is.

It was interesting, but definetly not as funny. but for the sake of curiousty, rent it anyways.

hmm.... Gabriel as the least pathetic... that's a hard call, I didn't mention that he makes homemade star trek episodes/spoofs out of his garage.

...and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.

reply

"Gabriel as the least pathetic"....yes, but only because he was still a child, so he had a chance to become a little more normal. The others were lost forever.

Spiner Fem is the name (she gave herself this name) of the woman with the glasses that lived across the canyon from one of the actors (I think his character is called Data, or something.) She was the one who took all those pictures of him at a convention. There's a funny thread about her on this board.

reply

crap, I googled the fkuc out of spiner fem & her real name and couldn't find a fricken pic of her, this is gonna drive me nuts cuz I'm drawing a blank on her visually.

...and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.

reply

really mousy woman, with large red, round glasses. she was the one standing on her balcony with her small child and pointing across the canyon at the actor's house and said she comes out to have a "brent break" every once in a while.

she was completely obsessed with the poor guy. there is a thread on this board that has a link to her website (now defunct) but i'm not sure if there are any pics of her there. her website is a riot (though much, much darker stuff than the film; she's seriously demented) and reads like the diary of a stalker.

by the way, i love your signature quote....

reply

ok, now I remember her living 'across' from Brent, but dammit, I need a visual

...and I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell kind of way.

reply

just think of the most timid, plain, painfully geeky woman you've ever seen in your life and then picture that with red glasses on.

poor thing.

i have to agree with you on this one. anytime i think my life has spirald down into the abyss i just throw this dvd in and i realize that no matter how bad i think things are it could always be worse, i could be like them. everyone needs their thing i guess and im a huge star wars fan but im not even entertaining the notion of obtaining any costumes or learning any make believe languages. so just remember, when the chips are down, you could be a trekkie.
