Volunteerism opportunity

One great wasted potential of Star Trek fandom was the opportunity to create a global volunteerism organization to promote the spirit of the show and put the fans into an organization structure they all yearn for and put them to doing something worthwhile. The fans get in on the ground floor of a moment and get uniforms and we all get a volunteer group that gets some good will out there.

Imagine all the actors who played captains in the show organizing a caucus to found the group and then going to congress to get it going. Obama was all for volunteerism. Don't know why they never did that.
