I think Jean was scamming Bokky over the money she needed for the kid's operation.

I was almost expecting that might turn out to be the twist, but no, I'm sure that wasn't the case. She tried to use the knowledge she'd picked up from Bokky to try to scam the thugs into believing the gun was loaded.

I was expecting it also, seeing as scam films seem to have never-ending twists!
