The 'Bridgists'

"Bridgism" in this film is a thinly disguised version of Scientology.

Scientology began as a self-help program, and now is claimed to
be a church (as in the movie). Scientologists are said to move
along "The BRIDGE to Total freedom". Their mental procedures
are considered by some to be a form of mind control (like the
Bridgists' neck implants). They wish to control society and
make it over according to their particular beliefs (as in the
movie).
