Mother, Son Incest?

I was left with the distinct feeling that there was an incestuous relationship going on with son and mother. At least, emotional incest.

In the movie they shared a bed , so it was more than emotional incest.

I got the same feeling . Although it's never stated, I thought the mother and son was having a incestuous relationship. Her obsession with him. Her jealousy over the women he date, and he defended her, even when he found out what she did. Plus in the book , it is stated that they were in a incestuous relationship.

in real life, no incestuous relationship took place, although hazel would have enjoyed that.
