What did you think of Mr Stamper?

Well i'm interested in any thoughts you have on Mr Stamper. Did you like him as a villain.?

I would also like to say i thought he was immensely sexy. He is tall, bad and buff. I love how sadistic he is. And the way he throws bond around at the end. And when he just smiles when he gets stabbed and overpowers bond with his strength. I also love his black outfit, it suits him immensely.

Any similar thoughts or thoughts on general on him?

I myself personally loved him and he is actually my second favourite Bond villian after Jaws.

I also loved the fact that Bond first got rid of Carver and then fought Stamper last. I don't know why I just always thought it made so much more badass that way.

And like you say, the way he can withstand pain and the way he attacked Bond at the end I thought was pretty cool.

Remember, there might be some MOMENTARY DISCOMFORT.

Yes, Mr. Stamper is very easy on the eyes, a rare quality for the male henchmen! Plus, he is sadistic and evil, just how we like our villains. It makes their ultimate death scenes far more enjoyable, though in Mr. Stamper's case it is a shame to see such a fine man get roasted!

Oh, and it is funny that Jaws was brought up, as he too survived past the main villain to fight Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me!!!

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

That's right I didn't even think of that when I typed. It was just a shame that unlike Jaws Stamper died with the last fight he had with Bond.

I thought he should have been in atleast one more film.

reply

Please. Jaws was memorable, Stamper was merely a stock standard thug.

reply

Yeah, I'm with you on that. The actor may be easy on the eyes, but Stamper had zero personality (and not in a menacing way like Jaws). Even the slobby hippie henchman was more interesting.

And me. Just another blond European heavy to me. Hans in YOLT, Erich (?) in FYEO, Necros in TLD and Stamper are all interchangeable clones.

The best henchman was the Doctor. Much more interesting

Stamper is just a Red Grant wannabe that the Bond series does every so often when they can't come up with an original henchmen. Which is funny because they did have an interesting new henchman in the Doctor who gets killed in his one scene. HE should had been this film's henchman.

Stamper is one of the more unmemorable villains in the series.

Even the most primitive society has an innate respect for the insane.

He and Xenia would make psychotic babies.

I just found him a bit cookie-cutter, a bit charicature stereotypical villain to be honest.

Very forgettable.

Mr. Stamper is in my Top 10 favorite Bond villains.

By Grabthar's Hammer...what a savings.

reply

I thought he was a pretty good henchmen, i didnt find him that attractive because i was all into Pierce Brosnan who outshines anyone who is with him.

Pierce is the man for me.

But going back to Mr Stamper i found him quite funny at times like how all serious said he was like a father to me but maybe its because of Bond's reaction to that line.

I always liked this too. Usually the main bad guy is the last to go, but Carver wasn't really a fighter so Stamper came in for the climatic fight. Nice change up.

He's got an imposing presence which works for TND. Out of all the Red Grant clones, Stamper and Necros are my favourite… Necros probably edges out because of the brilliant stunt work in his last scene.

I liked Stamper's loyalty to Carver, Gupta and Kaufman, made him a little more than 1 dimension.

Stamper was an interesting villian of sorts.

I remember thinking at the time he looked awful like the main fellow out of that Eurotrance group Scooter, certainly a band of the time. Perhaps it was because the folk I watched it with a few years kept saying "Scootah... Are you ready!" in a culturally appropriate accent.

Years later he was superb in Iron Sky and provides a lot more depth, despite the sardonic nature of the film. Definitely worth a watch.

Stamper was a clone of Red Grant (from From Russia With Love). But yes, he was sexy, strong and menacing.
