Do you think Rose loved her husband?

.

reply

Apparently not.

I think she did you can love more than one person. She had to move on and she did it

Agree: I think from what we saw she loved Cal on some level. It wasn't enough though.

She could have loved another man even though she raped Jack.

I think she did. Regardless of how she felt about Jack, he was dead and she had moved on with her life. According to what the neckbeard on the treasure-hunting boat said, Rose met a guy named Calvert, married him, and "punched out" a couple of kids. By then, Rose would have been living in America for long enough to have picked up the concept of marrying for love instead of financial security; unlike what her mother had tried to put her through when she was 17. Judging by how she treated her granddaughter, she loved her family very much, and probably missed Calvert, since it's pretty obvious she outlived him too.

Young Rose didn't have a husband in this movie. She wasn't married yet.
If you mean the guy she married later, then definitely. Once she got away from her mother's influence, you can be sure that she would marry for love instead of social status.

I mean she is spending her heaven years at the bottom of the Atlantic with a guy she knew for 2.5 days, as opposed to rocking it within the confines of the big pearly gates with someone she was with for well over four decades.

reply

Yes of course. However, since Jack was her first true love, that can linger for quite sometime. Jack clearly has changed her outlook on life for the better. Prior to meeting him, she seemed hesitant to come out of her shell, wasn't very expressive, and seemed unhappy while being controlled by her mother and Cal.
