Was Jack Literally going to jump after Rose??

I used to believe that, now I figured it might just be reverse psychology, trying to convince her not to jump.

Since Jack was a considered a "good liar" by Cal.

Reminds me of Disneys Pocahontas when her dad almost killed John Smith but Pocahontas jumped in and said "if you kill him you'll have to kill me too".

reply

If she jumped, he would have likely walked to the railing looked down shrugged his shoulder and gone back to gazing at the stars.

reply

I don't think he would have jumped. Even though she caught his attention, he didn't know her well enough to jump in after. I think he would just tell a guard that she was in the water. If they would have stopped and went back, is the real question.

reply

Agreed. Him jumping would do nothing but kill them both.

Alerting a guard of her jumping gives the very slim chance that she can be rescued and survive.

If he jumped they would've just froze to death/drowned in the water and no one wouldve been wise to the fact that two people jumped ship.

reply

Talk about parallel outcomes. If she had jumped, then told a guard and they stopped to try and save her, the ship would never have encountered the iceberg.

reply

It could/might have. Just at a different date/time.
