What made IMDb unique was the dedicated message boards. I'm sure at this point they are so well established that they can easily sustain the damage from dropping this feature.

I'm also sure there's a lot of scurrying going on at current sites or even long range plans to launch a site similar to IMDb using message boards.

Done properly with tight moderation (plenty of people would volunteer to be a moderator), think someone can steal their lunch.
