What a shoot

We shot part of this film on a small farm in Illinois. This farm happened to have two things going for it 1#Gigantic mountains of crap that would flake off small dust like crap particles in the wind, and choke you to death. 2#The corn was tassling.I still don't know what that is but I wish corn wouldn't do things like that, between the crap storm and the corn tassling, I couldn't breathe or see.

It took me a week to get the stench out my skin, and I was treated to not just one but two lectures by old women on the topic "proper hygiene".

I live about 5 miles from the farm in Illinois where your experience happened. Living out in the country is quite the lifestyle especially if you're not used to it. Just remember, for us, seeing all the trailers and equipment was just as strange to us as crap and corn tassling was to you.

did either of you see Colin Firth when this was filmed

Wow, I'm from a town about ten miles south of there.

Corn tasseling, ah yeah. I used to "detassel" for money in the summers. Basically it's a large scale genetic experiment. Some "bull" rows are left alone (that's one strain) while the others are detasseled so they can't self-pollinate. That way, the pollen from the bull rows is crossed and they can develop their hybrids.

I bought the DVD because I figured I'd recognize some of the surroundings, and I found that church while driving around a few summers ago.

Where in Illinois was part of the movie filmed?

lol, that's my cousin's farmland you're talking about (where they filmed)! Watch yoself!

;-) Nah, I'm not offended. If you're not used cornland, you'll think it sucks. I'm sorry you couldn't find the beauty in it.

Hah, so many northern Illinoisans representing.

I'm from there, too, the church used is my church, and I grew up across the road from it.

I remember when the filming was done, and all anybody could talk about was how rude and condescending select cast and crew members were.

Yeah, and there is nothing like watching Pat Hingle
take a leak in the cornfields ( I was an extra posted
on the edge of the yard for the start of a scene
and got to see that gem. Thank God the corn was high !)

PS- Michelle was SO obnoxious when her kids came to
the set ... GAG me.
