**SPOILERS***

I'm not sure where you left off, but the dad (Larry) was unhappy over turning the farm over to the girls. Their husbands started running things differently. Ty borrowed money to build a hog feeding station. Caroline got married but didn't invite any of the family to the wedding. Then Larry got drunk and wrecked his vehicle. He was taken to the hospital but was unhurt. Ginny and her husband drove him home. A storm was brewing up. Ginny was yelling at her father for driving while drunk and threatened to take away his car keys. Just as they got home, in the middle of the storm, Larry got out of the car and ran off into the cornfield. They looked for him but couldn't find him. He went to Harold's house and claimed the girls threw him off the farm. Everyone believed him. At a church supper, Harold and his son Jess (Colin Firth) got in a big fight. Jess punched his father and came home with Ginny and Rose. They let him stay in Larry's house. Ginny went over there at night and called out that she loved him. He didn't reply, and she ran off. She realized he didn't return her love, even though they had slept together earlier and he seemed to care about her.

Larry and Caroline sued Ginny, Rose, and their husbands to reclaim the farm, claiming abuse of the property. Rose revealed to Ginny that their father had molested both of them when they were teenagers. Ginny had blocked it from her mind all these years and didn't believe her. Rose said it was the reason she and Pete had sent their daughters to boarding school.

Everyone in town thinks Ginny and Rose are b****** for kicking Larry off the farm. They realize no one will ever believe the true story. They get a lawyer, who tells them to make sure the property is well maintained, and to wear dresses every day. While shopping in a local store, Rose sees her father and Caroline come in. Larry's behavior toward Caroline is almost flirtatious. Ginny begins having flashbacks and realizes her father did in fact molest her.

Rose's husband Pete is killed in a car accident. Rose doesn't really care; she reveals that after her mastectomy, Pete told her to wear her nightgown when he was around.

At the court hearing, Larry takes the stand and can't remember anything. It's obvious he has Alzheimer's. He thinks Ginny and Rose murdered Caroline, when in fact she is sitting right there. The judge rules in favor of the defendants, Rose and Ginny.

Rose then reveals to Ginny that she and Jess have been having an affair. Ginny reminds her that Jess is fickle and has never made a commitment to any woman.

Ginny and Ty separate. She asks for a thousand dollars and leaves town. She is next seen working as a waitress in Denny's. About a year and a half pass; Ginny writes to Rose once, giving her new address, but never reads any of Rose's letters. Then Ty shows up in the restaurant, bringing Ginny a birthday card from her nieces. He has sold his share of the farm to Rose and is going to Texas. He says Rose and Jess are living together with her girls in Larry's house. Larry is living with Caroline and her husband. Rose has told everyone in town about her father molesting them, but no one believes her. Ginny doesn't care about any of this anymore.

Sometime later, Ginny's nieces call and tell her Rose is dying of cancer. Ginny goes to her bedside, where Rose tells her that she is leaving the farm to her and Caroline, and they must sell it to a corporation. She wants Ginny to take care of her girls. Jess left Rose when she got sick. After she dies, Ginny and her nieces move away and the farm is sold. Larry dies of a heart attack. The End.
