Any miscasting here?

Pfeiffer seemed too urban and her mannerisms too fast to be believable as a woman who grew up on a farm. Her style was chic even when she tried to be country. Her acting really sucked in it as well but she was not alone. A bad script, storyline and mostly bad acting. Did anyone buy Colin Firth as a midwesterner?

I sometimes think maybe would have been better if michelle played lange's charchter instead of rose.

She might have seemed too urban for you, but I have to contradict you on the bad acting. I find this to be one of Pfeiffer's strongest performances, especially during the scene where she and Lange are talking on the porch and she is drunk. But yeah, Colin Firth didn't fit in at all.

I followed reading the book by immediately watching the movie, and I just don't really understand *any* of the casting choices. I think it would have made a great mini-series, but this was a terrible adaptation. It just wasn't how I pictured it at all. I also didn't really like the music; it just wasn't right for the mood or the moment.

Really? Her acting sucked?? Wow...
