Roger Ebert got it mostly right...

Mostly. Mr. Ebert called this film "excruciatingly boring", and he's right, the movie is tedious. But it also strikes a certain nerve. If you (or anyone you know) have experienced an existentialist crisis, found life to be meaningless, come to the conclusion of the absurd, were void of love, sunk to the depths of great loneliness, then there is emotion to be found in this film.
