I just watched the movie first time. Reading through previous topics about the ending with many interpretations...am I stupid or...? Because I thought the ending was simple and unambiguous.

So, the old Turkish man tells that he abandoned his suicide by eating mulberries he found by the tree. He loved the taste so much.
Now, we are thinking if Mr. Badii killed himself or not.

The name of the movie is "Taste of Cherry". Mr. Badii lies under a tree, that at least I don´t recognize during the movie.

The only(!) reason for the last scene is to tell that Mr. Badii was lying under a cherry tree. We are shown a completely irrelevant material from the spring recording sessions, where even an idiot can see the beautiful white flowers in that same tree and knows that Mr. Badii that night found sweet cherries in the hole, ate them, got the "Taste of cherry" and decided to live.

The lab destroyed their last scene. so they threw whatever. I dont know, maybe I don't understand poetry of this, but for me this is not poetry, no secret meanings, just crew shots. Wtf?

I think what happened was the rain that started was real, and destroyed the desert by turning everything green. The ending is left ambiguous but the filmmaker explains why. He broke the "fourth wall" in order to do so.

"Wow. Our town has only had a Whole Foods for three weeks and we already have our first gay kids."
