This film doesn't seem dated to me.

I am not from Generation X, I am apart of this current generation, Y or Z or whatever it's called.

But anyways, this film still seems relevant today. I meet kids in my town and they act like the character portrayed in the film. I also found myself relating to Ribsi's character the most (I'm sure a lot of other people do to), I'm not sure if that's a good thing.

I see people that say this film is dated and stuck in the 90s, but I still think the film is very relevant today. We all go through our angsty teenager phase and go into a state of confusion, not sure of where our future might lead us, and afraid of the results.

Not to mention the film captures the atmosphere of being outside on a hot summer night, very well.

I only made this post because I just watched Reality Bites. Now that's a dated load of crap. Linklater and Bogosian did it a lot better.

I'm from Paris... TEXAS

Yeah reality bites is a good movie but it really hasnt aged as well as this one, i think theres still a lot of ppl who could relate to it though

Agreed. SubUrbia has aged much better than Reality Bites... (Although I love both!)

Suburbia has elements which are relatable to youth in general, whereas Reality Bites was a low grade attempt to exploit the idea of a generation. Suburbia could stand alone today.

I wondered if Linklater had any involvement in Reality Bites, as it was set in Texas and starred his most commonly used actor, Ethan Hawke. He didn't, and it shows.

I'll take Punctuality

I just watched it. This is one of the few films that translates to youth frustration and not just in the US. I grew up in Hong Kong and live here still, I identify with Jeff a lot. And I know a few people like Tim...bored, frustrated and happy to *beep* with their friends in order to try and elevate themselves.
