the 80s is better

The suburbia from the 80s is ten times better. They use real punks and show what life is like being a punk. This movie should never had used the same name.

Dude, this movie is based on a play by Eric Bogosian. It is a very well-renowned play. It wasn't trying to steal the identity of the suburbia from the 80s or take anything away from it.

Then why give it the same name?
i dont care if it is based on a play by eric bogosian, its a movie/play about punks, both the play write and the filmmakers shouldnt have titled it the same name without asking/wanting the comparison drawn. The fact is that even if "it wasn't trying to steal the identity of the suburbia from the 80s or take anything away from it.," they still do. If some one wrote a play and then made a movie called "the big lebowski" and it was about stoners, would that be ok/ not try to steal the identity of the first?

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Penelope Spheeris blames Linklater for the 90s movie having the same name she probably should be sore at Eric Bogosian instead. But I agree the 80s one is way better than this sh!t.

How is this film a "Punk Rock" film? Does it say it is? Or is it people who are just comparing the two and make it out to be like that based on the title?

Personally i think this film is more like his Broadway effort "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" from 1990. Sort of carrying with it that an era is over and there's more responsibility now but wanting to hold onto the society and/or freedom there used to be.

My opinion.
