Was this really shot in 2.35:1?

IMDB lists the aspect ratio of this as 2.35:1. That is pretty unusual for such a film. Was this shot for and released theaterically in Germany or Europe? If indeed the 2.35:1 Widescreen scope aspect ratio is correct...is there a Widescreen DVD release anywhere in the world of this? To find a film like this shot in 2.35:1 is pretty fascinating and interesting to me. Warner Brothers only released a "Fullscreen" (1.33:1) VHS version here in the USA as "A Rat's Tale" (which is what usually happens with anything a studio deems as a "Family" or "Kid's" movie); but was the VHS Pan & Scanned because it was originally shot in 2.35:1? You can usually tell pretty easily if a film was shot in 2.35:1 by how much Panning and Scanning is done on the "Fullscreen" version, but they might not have had to do that much with this film since it's possible the puppets were positioned close together within the wide frame anyway. Anybody know the original aspect ratio on this film for sure?
