If you like the zaniness of State and Main and can accept the strong humor, then you'll love The TV show "Action".
The fun is that it is taken from the producer rather than the writer's point of view. Action is like learning to drink alcohol. It might taste bad to you at first, but if you get into it, it really is one of the best written situation comedies ever.
Can anyone else recommend another movie or show?

Altman's The Player, of course. But, also his Short Cuts.

This movie reminded me a little of the small budget movie "Route 30." They both contain numerous small town personalities and small town sensibilities. If you remove the whole movie plot from State and Main, you have Route 30.
share'Adaptation' is one of the best POST MODERN films within films... Otherwise it's too good a film to have anything else much in common with S *beep* t & Maim.
shareI haven't though of ACTION in years - Jay Mohr, Illeana Douglas, Buddy Hacket - great show! Sadly, it only lasted one season.
