OOPS!

Ok, after they get out of the pirate ship and "Cindy" gives us that immortal line, we hear Bitchin' Betty say "there is a breech in cargo hold one"
(y'know, it's open to the void of space). Our heroes suit-up to check out the noise that cindy heard...they find Macanudo laying there in what's left of himself...i can accept that he doesn't need oxygen to breathe because he has rebuilt himself....but i guess science facts must change in the future and neither the lighter nor the cigar need oxygen to burn.
Also, if our heroes need magnetic boots (which they go out of their way to show us) in the cargo hold how come Macanudo is just lying on the floor?

And one more:

SPOILER.............SPOILER...............SPOILER..................SPOILER....

(as if anything could possibly "spoil" this movie other than the plot)

Am I the only one who immediately knew, once John saw the picture of Cindy's mom back on earth, that Mike and Cindy would end up together and John would end up with "mom"?

reply

As for the magnetic boots: the floors are what's magnetic as Betty tells him in the beginning ("Magnetic floors are activated"). Which is maybe why he's lying on the floor, being partly metal and all.
Then again, this might be an accidental explanation since there are plenty of details that don't make sense; I don't have the impression the scenario writers cared much for scientific facts.
Which is fine with me, the movie is amusing enough as it is without taking itself seriously in any way. :)

Well, this response comes more than four years after the original post... but to add to that post: the cargo hold is fully exposed to space, so no air. So why is it Macanudo is still able to speak? Without air, there would not be any sound.

Now, for space battles I can understand why we're hearing sound. It would be extremely dull otherwise. However, speaking in a vacuum is something entirely different :)

Wow, the fact this conversation took place over years is way more interesting than the lack of scientific consistency in "Space Truckers". What next? Mediclorians ?

Did you realize that the Hole to the void is in the other "container"??
After Mecanudo's death, the wall MELTS, then the 2 robots get in... etc.
No problem with the cigar and lighter besides de gravity effect on fire...

This movie is such a turd that I consider myself privileged to have seen it and take pride in the fact that I saw it all the way through the end.

Thankfully, the only things I remember are square pigs and 'Norm' defying gravity as he flips through the cargo hold on completely visible wires.

And the biggest, or best OOPS was Debi Mazar's nipple slip! Did you catch it? Thank the gods if you did.
