Yeah, I saw it too as a parody of sci-fi and B-movies in general, so I didn't take it too seriously. It was fun for what it's worth...after all, it's a comedy, not space opera. The sets, costumes, spaceships, and killer robots were actually pretty decent in their overall designs. Special effects were cheesey though, but...it added to the charm of the movie. I have seen far worse like Metal Storm: The Destruction of Jared Synn, Megaforce, and Nightflyers, and those were suppose to be serious sci-fi B-movies.
