I went there back in 98. What a GREAT time! I'd love to go again, and my wife REALLY wants to go as well. Vegas is just a REALLY long drive, and we're pretty much broke right now anyway.
My wife and I went twice, once last year, and the year before (2003 & '04). We love Vegas, and lived in L.A. for a year, only a 5 hour drive away. On the second trip, my son was old enough to go to Klingon Encounter. However, only my wife and I went to the Borg Encounter, that being a bit too scary for a seven-year-old. (Heck, it scared the crap out of me, and I KNEW it was fake).
Lots of fun. I recommend both attractions for any Trek fan, no matter how light your interest in the series. Heck, if you enjoy sci-fi at all, give it a try. As a bonus, the "Star Trek" Hilton is pretty affordable and the rooms are nice. Just gamble somewhere else, the slots there are waaaaayyy too tight, and the tables just suck.
Yeah, my family and I went to Vegas last year (2005) and I got to go again! Just as much fun as I remembered. Even more so with the Borg thing!
We took our son through all of it who had just turned 5, and we had him in a star fleet uniform. He was a HUGE hit with everyone, including the "actors". Well, except that he kept saying things that would make them all laugh, and a few kept forgetting lines or missing queues because of it...
LOL
But, while waiting in line, one of the actors gave him one of the "phaser riffles" and they had a huge shoot out.
It was great!
Though, the food wasn't nearly as good as I remembered it...
Its a fun time there. I wish Quarks was a bit more visually like Quarks from DS9, but its still enjoyable to go there. I liked the rides too. Its fun being on the bridge of the Enterprise.
They made an error when I was getting my picture taken on the Enterprise bridge and I got to wander around the bridge for about 5 or 10 minutes while they fixed the problem. It was cool.
Cripes, I never knew they were doing this and I missed it! Too bad, after 2008 CBS auctioned off all of the TOS and spinoff props they may have had there.
I & several friends went back in 2005 for my 40th birthday celebration. Great time! Sad that it's now gone. Although, our family went to the 49th ST con also in Vegas last year and bits & pieces of The Experience still exist and were on display.
