why is this not called 'Four Kings'

there are 4 main characters on this mission, Clooney, Whalberg, Cube and Jonze..? Anybody? Was this just for the sake of keeping to the allegory? Or was it because of the death of one character [late in the film] ???

And the fact he never was one of the kings, he just went along for the ride(IMO).

it refers to the three white people.

black people can't be kings, it's against the law.

If it is what I think it is, it's a Poker term. It is when you have a "King" and a "three". The "King" being Clooney (plays a SF) and the "three" being Whalberg, Cube and Jonze.

Maybe it was from the lyrics to the song “We three kings”. Jonze sang, “we three kings be stealin the gold”.

It's based on the "three kings" song, as ranb40 said. I think it fit with the producers as well because the film has 3 stars, Clooney, Wahlberg, and Cube. Just a clever title.

it was based on the song that conrad was singing in the tent "we three kings go searching for gold..." or something like that.
