Posh has a pretty voice, but doesn't seem to sing much lead, or get much voice time on their songs. She always seems relegated to the background. I wonder why?
This movie is the guilty pleasure of me and my daughters. I took them to see it in theaters, and now if it's on, we have to stop and watch a bit.
Because she was the weakest when it came to singing. She didn't have a good voice, as some of the other girls had. But she had the looks to compensate for that. Both she and the other girls realised that, and that's why she was named Posh.
I think that she had the weakest voice in terms of a pop group. Everyone else's voice is pretty distinct and recognizable so they would probably get the solos.
Posh is kind of like the background singers of boy bands. Good singers, but simply overshadowed. If they were taken out of the song, you'd notice something different about the music, but when they're there, you can't tell because they blend in.

I respect people based on how they respect others.
Actually it's because she missed the demo recording for Wannabe as she was at a wedding. So the vocals were shared around the rest of the girls and Victoria got pigeon-holed as the one who doesn't sing. She didn't get to sing solos in the singles until after Gerri left. She gets verses to herself in Goodbye, Let Love Lead The Way and Holler. She's no worse than the other girls in terms of singing ability. I'd rank Mel B as the weakest voice personally
It's all a matter of opinion but I think Victoria can sing. It's just that her training was in musical theatre - she had to sing a song from Cabaret for her audition. The girls themselves admitted none of them were outstanding singers. Their appeal was that they were average, just like everyone else
They all have great voices, but if you ask me, Mel C's is the strongest--so she tended to get the most powerful singing parts. She was the most outstanding singer. My other favorite voices are those of Geri and Emma, followed by Mel B and Victoria. I felt the last two were just a wee bit weaker vocally, and therefore sometimes not as showcased. Victoria might get the background or "all together" sections. I think they did an exemplary overall job, though, of writing music and dividing it up/arranging it fairly but sensibly among the band members. All five girls were equally important and valued. Although the last album wasn't bad by any means, it was nowhere near their previous work--and without Geri (my favorite!), it just wasn't the same. As they sang in the movie, they need five for the power of Spice! Not a band that's just a name, like a sports team, and can have members simply coming and going...
Anyways, I've listened to and loved all of their solo music. One of my best friends was a Spice fanatic to the same degree as I, so he bought me Geri's Schizophonic album for my birthday in 99 (omg, I can't believe I was only 12!! I just turned 27 and still feel only about 15!!)
I was a huge fan and all of them can sing !! sure Mel C was a powerhouse, Emma did stunning harmony, Geri and Mel B added the sass, Victoria had a soft sweet voice on par with Emma's ! listening back to all their songs i think the Solo's were evenly spread amongest all 5 then 4, then their greatest hits single "Headlines" Victoria had a solo and Mel B didn't !! if you listen to this set of Victoria Acoustic her voice is great ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLIFwfA1QJw
I'd never argue that she isn't a great singer. I've since listened to all of their post-Spice Girls solo albums, and every one can definitely sing. I was very impressed with a number of songs from those albums (Geri's Schizophonic is my overall favorite.) None of them were there simply for looks or to round out the collection of personalities; they got in first for the voice, and those five happened to have the perfect variety of voices to blend together and complement one another. They did a good job of distributing the vocals amongst the five.
