Speed 2 felt more like a Die Hard movie than the first

A boat felt like a better location to shoot a Die Hard movie than a bus. It looked bigger, that's one thing. And besides, wasn't the first Under Siege movie "Die Hard on a ship" before this one?

Speed when you really think of it, wasn’t exactly a film that was ready made to be turned into an on-going franchise. What I mean is, the premise is way too unique and/or gimmicky that if there were to be a sequel, you really have to suspend your disbelief to an extreme degree.

I think one fundamental mistake that Jan De Bont made when approaching the sequel, is thinking that we needed another means of transportation (from a bus to a cruise linear) as the focus. De Bont could’ve easily focused on the SWAT squad that Keanu Reeves’ character work for getting into another crisis/terrorist situation (it didn’t necessarily have to be focused on a vehicle).

You're right.

Apparently the script for this was proposed as a die hard film but they decided not use it so made it speed instead.
