Massive plot-hole, or perhaps I missed something?

You go from the scene where Spawn is attacking the banquet and kills Winn's assistant, to about 20 minutes later having Spawn meet clown in the alley and declare that he want's revenge against clown for hiring Winn to kill him, using him as a pawn to lead Hell's army. But there is nothing to suggest in the gap between those scenes that Spawn has figured out Clown's plan and that he's behind it. He suddenly just has it figured out from nothing at all. One of the most gaping plot holes I've ever seen in a movie.
