Horrible !!!!

i baught this DVD and saw this movie purely based on the "gr8" reviews i read on imdb....and its an understatement to say i am disappointed...not that i havent seen any bad movies before....just that i dont understand the overwhelming response to this movie here....someone even compared it to Usual suspects here.......goodness gracious me

This movie is the worst piece of crap i have seen....the acting is as wooden as it gets...the hero has just one expression..rebecca pigeon's expressions and dialogues dont even match...and wat abt the twists...who didnt see them coming???

SPOILERS Ahead....

So wasnt it clear that the "sister" kept missing her appointments and the excuses given were pretty lame...Why would someone open an account for you as a "joke"...and the icing on the cake was the scene with the lady and her son and the book on the airport....she repeated 3 times "u tore the book and now u have ur handprints all over it"...huh cud it have been any more obvious she was shouting out loud for him to recollect the tennis book....wat are we , 5 yr olds???....and why wud the boss get him out of jail to find the process...wat is he james bond??...wudnt the boss take help from police/FBI ???...and in the end when steve martin is trying to kill him with the revolver...Joe just walks around leisurely on the deck...wudnt a person run for his life??....Some ppl are trying to cook up their own theories like their are hidden plots/clues and the ending was a con too....hell u can cook up such theories abt any movie...if u want u can even make lord of the rings into a big suspense thriller where the director plots hidden cues...just a matter of perspective...this isnt a piece of genius like Nolan's or Lynch's....this is just plain BAD

I can't disagree more. Of course to each his/her own, I happen to enjoy Mamet and actually enjoy the monotone and the stuttering when the characters speak (look...I mean look...now listen). House of Games, Glengrarry Glen Ross, Things Change, State and Main...and going back to The Untouchables and The Verdict. Rebecca Pidgeon looked great sitting on that window sill and also has a great voice, I love her version of Spanish Harlem.

I would not categorize this movie as HORRIBLE!! but it is one of the dryest acting performances by the entire cast I've ever seen in a very watchable movie. There was almost the monotone quick dialogue which made shows like the old Jack Webb TV show Dragnet a classic. I really enjoyed following the plot and it was a good "who's doing what" plot the entire movie thru. And, re: the ending I never would have pegged Pidgeon's character as a bad guy, like many ohers seem to have zeroed in on easily.

Most people aspire to drink from the fountain of knowledge, i just wanna gargle

In the other movies by the same director also, I seem to find the predictability. However, the story still makes up for it, despite the improbabilities of certain risks the conmen take. So, overall, I seemed to have enjoyed the movie.

All I can say is that Mamet is an acquired taste.
