Missing scenes? Does Joe return to the island?

I watched The Spanish Prisoner again last night for the 4th time or so, and after it ended, I was sure there was a scene missing from the versions I had watched previously. I have a recollection of Joe actually returning to the resort on the island in the attempt to get the security videos, but upon returning, he discovers the resort was also "not what it was", and the person at the desk tells him they have never collected security video there.....Am I completely making this up? Did I dream this? Are there different versions of this movie? I can't find any reference to this in any movie synopsis, and I'm really confused - does anyone else recall ever seeing a scene like this?
