does anyone know the difference between the original DVD in 1997 (or around there) and the "Director's Cut" released in 2004?

i saw the DVD a couple years back but don't know which version it was. don't know if it's worth buying the newer one if there's very little difference.

apparently there were more than 14 mins of footage that was removed from the original as they were deemed "unfavourable" to china (since this movie was produced at the time hongkong was about to hand over to china).
